Giving parents credit,
not just tools.

Families and Instagram have a complicated relationship. For teens, it’s connection. For parents, it can feel like exposure. The tension wasn’t whether young people would use the platform; it was whether parents could trust that Instagram was looking out for their kids as instinctively as they were.

So when launching Teen Accounts, rather than just  giving parents yet another set of tools, we gave them credit for everything they already do. “You’ve always looked out for them. We’re here to do it with you.” Real families grounded the message, but the nucleus was trust: platform and parent standing on the same side.

The response wasn’t bought, it was earned. The film went viral across markets, generating widespread press and national coverage. Parents called into news programs. They commented on the work. They shared their own stories of vigilance and care—starting with our director’s posts. With no paid awareness, the campaign became one of the most talked-about in its category.
